Situation
Address records without a building reference can neither be reliably verified nor linked to building information. For a client, 3,841 addresses were matched against the federal building register — a weekly-updated database of over 3.1 million objects.
Approach
A multi-step matching process first homogenises street names, then matches on street, postal code and house number, with coordinates as a final fallback stage. Every hit carries a match grade — direct feedback on the data quality of the source system.
Outcome
A 98% match rate across the full dataset. The output delivers EGID, building status and category plus coordinates (LV95 or lat/long) — a foundation for cleansing, filtering and future updates, extensible to a self-service portal and API.
